Dockur

1 Overview

Dockur is an open-source project on GitHub that automatically downloads, installs and runs Microsoft Windows inside a docker container using Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM) acceleration.

2 Linux Host System

• Magea-10 / Kernel-6.18
• Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7300U CPU @ 2.60GHz
• RAM: 8 GB

3 Windows 11 Pro Installation

• Download Dockur from https://sourceforge.net/projects/windows-dockur.mirror/
• Unpack zip file in /usr/local/

As root

• Install podman & podman-compose RPMs
• systemctl enable --now podman.socket
• cd /usr/local/dockur-windows-6.6
• podman compose up -d
• podman run -it --rm --name windows -e "VERSION=11" -p 8006:8006 --device=/dev/kvm --device=/dev/net/tun --cap-add NET_ADMIN -v "${PWD:-.}/windows:/storage" --stop-timeout 120 docker.io/dockurr/windows

Finalize installation as standard user

• firefox http://localhost:8006 # Automatic installation of Windows 11 Pro

4 Usage

• Install freerdp RPM
• Either

xfreerdp /u:Docker /p:admin /v:rhea /f

[Ctrl] [Alt] [Enter] to exit full screen

or

xfreerdp /u:Docker /p:admin /v:rhea /size:1912x1000
